Creative Positioning & Splinting for Complex Face, Neck, and Chest Burns

February 24, 2026 | 3:00–4:00 PM CT

Join this member-only burn therapy education session hosted by the American Burn Association for an in-depth look at innovative rehabilitation strategies for patients with complex facial, neck, and chest burns. Burn therapists Jessica Bonfigilio, OT, and Hilary Smith-Chong, PT, from Shriners Children’s Boston will share creative positioning and splinting solutions drawn from real-world clinical cases. Presentations will follow patients across two key recovery phases—from acute wound healing to reconstructive care years later—highlighting how therapeutic approaches evolve over time. Attendees will leave with practical ideas to enhance comfort, function, and long-term outcomes in challenging burn presentations.

Attendees will gain insight into:

  • Positioning techniques to protect healing tissues and optimize outcomes during the acute phase

  • Custom splinting approaches for complex face, neck, and chest burn patterns

  • Rehabilitation considerations during reconstructive and long-term recovery stages

  • Case-based strategies that can be immediately applied in clinical practice
